VOCATION PRAYER
Holy loving God, you have graced us in numerous ways. You have called many holy heroic men and women to serve you and your Church. We come to you once again, asking you to bless your Church with generous souls by responding to the call of sisterhood, priesthood, brotherhood and deaconate. Give young men and women open hearts and minds to answer the call of serving those in need, bringing justice and peace to this broken world. May they be examples of the love of Jesus who came bringing hope, healing and joy. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit now and forever. Amen.

GENERATIONS OF FAITH – Kay Skelly 399-1888 or faithformationcortona@netzero.net
GOSPEL: Matthew 15:21-28 (the faith of the Canaanite woman)
QUESTION: When has the faith of someone from another race or culture enriched your own? What could you do to help someone of another race or culture feel more welcome in your neighborhood, church or club?
Jesus’ first reply to this woman may seem harsh! Has this ever happened to you? Did you feel mistreated? This story points out value of further inquiry at those times and further listening.
Our CORE Team is engaged in a period of inquiry and listening as we plan for this year’s program. Our overall topic is morality for which we have a skeletal outline but we want to put muscle and sinew to it in order that it becomes a great program for St. Margaret’s people. We need your input, especially from our 4 PM Mass people. See the attached tear off.
Enjoy the rest of our summer; be sure to include even a small break in routine. We are blessed in this beautiful part of the country.

Next weekend our parish will be taking up a collection for the CATHOLIC HOME MISSIONS APPEAL which supports missions here in the United States. The Appeal offers Catholics across our country a wonderful opportunity to help fellow Catholics practice their faith in such rugged areas as Alaska, Appalachia, the Deep South, the Rocky Mountain States, the Southwest, Puerto Rico, and island dioceses in the Pacific and Caribbean. This Appeal is a practical way for our parish to share its faith and resources with the mission church here at home. Over 95% of all donated money goes directly to the missions to keep church doors open, to support pastors in their priestly ministry and to provide basic pastoral services like religious education for children. Please give generously to assist fellow Catholics here in America. You may place your donation in the regular offertory collection basket. 10% of all loose money, not in envelopes, will also be donated to this Appeal.

NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE COMMITTEE – Scripture makes clear the challenge before us in deciding our role in the right to life debate. Jesus says, “Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.” (Matthew 25:46) If we do nothing for the protection of the unborn, surely the least among us, then we do nothing for Jesus.” (Culture of Life Family Services Newsletter, 11/07).

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE by Bud Ozar – The mother in today’s gospel persisted, even when she was ignored and insulted. She would do whatever was necessary to bring relief for her child. Parenting is more than bringing life into the world; it is also about laying down your life.
