Web site GOF April 2,2008 In our GOF process this year, we have been exploring various forms of prayer. As children, we all learned basic prayers which most of us can recite by heart. As we grew, we became aware of many other forms of prayer that are equally valid of Catholic Christians. We were told that "Singing is a form of praying."
Prayer is a vital part of life which enriches our personal relationship with God. It has value in helping people to live out their Catholic faith through causing conversion to the way of God. Prayer changes us and not the mind of God, God can only intend Good. Prayer forms us as disciples.
On the first Sunday of each month, our approximately 45 minute program centers on conversation about that Sunday's Gospel. We use the "Sunday By Sunday" pamphlet as a guide for conversation. All other weeks of the month, people are urged to read this weekly pamphlet at home and talk about it with others.
The 2nd Sunday is Hospitality time. Various groups of the Church provide refreshments and service for this time. This month, our hosts are members of the "Called to Be Church" committee.
The 3rd week, a form of prayer, either video or speaker is presented.
The 4th week is for an actual experience of prayer which we have looked at the previous week.
